FAQs

What is CNI, exactly?

CNI is a clinician-guided nervous-system training program. We work directly with learned physiological patterns that shape emotional and mental functioning, using measurable biofeedback-based conditioning and cognitive coaching rather than talk therapy alone or symptom management.

What does CNI help with?

CNI focuses directly on nervous system function. We are Mind and Body. CNI supports recovery from nervous system dysregulation. This is most often associated with anxiety, mood (depression), trauma-related stress (PTSD), chronic stress, burnout, and sleep disruption. Since the nervous system houses our mind and keeps the body alive, we have helped so many different conditions that we cannot list them all here. We also assist in performance improvement in many areas by gaining better control of the nervous system.

Is this therapy?

CNI is not talk therapy alone. Since the nervous system is driven by beliefs, perceptions, understandings, our experiences (genetics), our physiology, and practices, CNI focuses on integrated psychological and physiological regulation and skill-building using measurable evidence-based training methods.

How is this different from standard neurofeedback?

We use qEEG technology to measure brainwaves. We use biofeedback to measure the body’s response to various stimuli. And we use psychometrics to gage emotional states and stability. All of this data is quantified, allowing us to identify and measure specific emotional responses to alter them, and ultimately empowers you to control them.

The Cole Neurologic Method™ is a complete methodology. Neurofeedback is part of the program that is integrated with psychological and physiological interventions and is not used in isolation. CNI integrates quantified neurofeedback data within a broader conditioning framework that includes standardized cognitive engagement, physiological biofeedback data, structured reassessment (making the client a partner in their treatment plan), and maintenance planning and ongoing support with optional take home wearables. This allows changes to generalize beyond the program and into daily life.

How do you measure progress?

We use a combination of symptom tracking, functional improvements, and objective physiology trends (such as HRV / EDA / EEG where applicable). We also repeat intake vs current-state comparisons at checkpoints.

How long does the program take?

Program length varies based on baseline patterns, individual goals, and the progress of each client. Most clients move through a structured sequence of training and reassessment, followed by a step-down or maintenance phase designed to support independence.

What happens after the program ends?

Clients leave with a personalized maintenance plan and optional wearable-supported sessions for ongoing training. We can monitor trends, provide continued contact, and adjust support to keep results stable and improving.

Do you prescribe medication?

No. CNI does not prescribe medication. Many clients participate in our program while continuing medications prescribed elsewhere, and any changes to medication are managed by the client and their physician.

Is it covered by insurance?

Coverage depends on your plan and the specific services provided. Our team can help you understand options during your consultation.

Do I need to be in crisis to benefit?

No. Many clients come to improve performance, stress resilience, sleep, focus, and long-term stability — not only for acute symptoms.

How quickly will I feel a difference?

Every person is different, but many clients notice early changes (in the first 2or 3 sessions) in calm, reactivity, and sleep as they begin nervous-system training and skill practice. Quite a few patients did not really notice change until session 7.
